QR and NFC visitor communication for businesses

An unstaffed door does not have to mean a missed visitor. DoorVi lets callers reach the right person by video from their own phone, with no intercom installation.

In short

DoorVi gives a business premises a reliable point of contact at the door without an intercom system. Visitors scan a QR code or tap an NFC sign, and a secure video call reaches the phone you nominate — useful wherever reception is not permanently staffed.

The problem

Plenty of business doors are effectively unanswerable. A small office where everyone is in a meeting. A workshop where machinery drowns out the bell. A clinic with a side entrance for deliveries. A unit on an industrial estate where the office is at the far end of the building.

The traditional fix is a wired intercom: a capital cost, an installation, cabling through the building and a handset that ends up on one desk. For a leased unit or a small team, that is rarely proportionate — and it still does not show you who is outside.

How DoorVi solves it

DoorVi moves the intercom onto the phones people already carry. The visitor uses their own handset to start the call, and it arrives on the phone of whoever should be handling visitors that day. Nothing is cabled and nothing is fixed to a desk.

Because you see the caller before you respond, you can triage properly: direct a courier to the goods door, ask a contractor to wait, or come down for a scheduled appointment.

How it works

  • Register each sign to the phone that should receive its calls.
  • Place signs where visitors arrive — main entrance, goods-in door, side gate or reception window.
  • A visitor scans the QR code, or taps the sign with an NFC-capable phone.
  • A secure browser-based video call opens and rings the nominated phone.
  • You see and hear the visitor and give them clear instructions.

Key benefits for business premises

  • No intercom cabling, trunking or electrical work.
  • Separate signs for separate doors, so you know which entrance is calling.
  • Visitors need no app, which is essential for couriers on a tight round.
  • Nothing to charge in the sign — no maintenance schedule.
  • One-time cost per sign, no monthly subscription and no per-user licensing.
  • Answer from anywhere, including from another site.
  • Suits leased premises where permanent alterations are restricted.

Where it works well

Suitable premises

  • Small offices and studios without a permanent receptionist.
  • Industrial units, workshops and warehouses with a separate goods entrance.
  • Clinics, salons and therapy rooms operating by appointment.
  • Self-storage, yards and gated commercial sites.
  • Retail stockrooms and back-of-house delivery doors.
  • Serviced offices where fitting an intercom is not permitted.

Privacy

The sign has no camera and no microphone, so it is not monitoring your entrance. Calls exist only when a visitor initiates one. Video is one way: your team sees the visitor, the visitor does not see inside the premises, and the answering phone number is not disclosed to them.

Installation

Standard signs mount with adhesive backing in a couple of minutes per door — no drilling, no contractor and no downtime. Adding a second or third entrance later is simply another sign, not another installation project.

Frequently asked questions

It can cover a door that is not permanently staffed. Visitors reach a named person on their phone instead of ringing a bell nobody hears. It does not perform sign-in, badge printing or access control.
